Main duties of the job:

Join our team as Recovery Worker in Shropshire. Are you a compassionate and motivated individual who wants to change people's lives? Our team in Shrewsbury is looking for a Recovery Worker to join them in providing high-quality recovery care to a diverse client group. If you are enthusiastic, creative and passionate about helping others, we'd love to hear from you.

As a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol, and mental health challenges, we operate over 80 services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year.

Shropshire Council has implemented an innovative multi-disciplinary team in partnership with Shropshire Recovery Partnership (WithYou), the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT) and Shropshire Council, funded through the Rough Sleepers Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant provided by the Office of Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID). The Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Team (RSDAT) supports the county in meeting the intended outcomes of the national drug strategy, by helping to reduce drug-related deaths, reducing alcohol-related hospital admissions and increasing the number of successful individuals in treatment.

The multi-agency team provides holistic wrap-around support and drug and alcohol treatment for rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping across the county. Assistance is tailored to the needs of each individual and provides support addressing drug and/or alcohol use, physical health, mental health, as well as work to develop a pathway into accommodation.

Our Recovery Workers play a vital role in supporting clients to identify their goals, ambitions, and passions. You'll work with them to create the best treatment plan for their needs and to guide them on their path to recovery. This is a frontline role at WithYou, where you will provide continuity of care through effective partnership working, care coordination, key work responsibilities, and intervention delivery. You will manage an active caseload, connecting quickly with clients and ensuring they're always treated with respect and dignity.

This post will work within a dedicated treatment team that will be both integrated with partner agencies and an extension of the existing drug and alcohol team in Shropshire. The role will offer access to required interventions and treatment in outreach locations, as well as bases, improving referral times for psychological, physical health and wellbeing. You will make all contacts count and maximise engagement, whilst reducing overall associated harm.

There are two positions available, on fixed term contracts until March 2027. You will work Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm. There will be a requirement to work Saturday mornings as per the duty rota, averaging 2 or 3 per year. This role requires flexibility to work across Shropshire, including travelling out of county when required. You must have a driving licence, with use of a car, to be considered for this role.

Essential Skills:

  • We're looking for a compassionate and motivated individual, with an exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships.

  • A successful track record of providing efficient and reliable customer service is essential.

  • You will work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure a high-quality service is maintained.
