As a Human Resources professional in the People team, you will support and drive People ambitions with a focus on employee relations. You will provide creative, practical People solutions and specialist advice to managers and employees, including the management of complex casework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that People advice provided is in line with organisational policies and procedures, best practice and employment legislation to minimise risk to the organisation
  • Mentoring and coaching People Advisers, ensuring employment law and practice knowledge is up to date
  • Acting as the escalation point for contentious complex cases and overseeing case management of potential gross misconduct or dismissals
  • Supporting line managers with casework up to Senior Management level, including formal and informal disciplinary and grievance cases, sickness absence management, and welfare concerns of a complex nature
  • Managing caseloads, prioritising and expediting case status with the People Advisers
  • Deputising for the Employee Relations Manager and providing cover for the People Advisers when required

Person Specification:

  • Significant demonstrable experience in an employee relations focused role
  • Experience and knowledge of the essentials of employment law and managing complex employee relations cases
  • Experience acting as deputy to a lead HR role in a similarly complex organisation
  • Experience delivering functional HR expertise across the full generalist remit including recruitment, reward, organisational development, change management, employee engagement, employee relations and learning and development
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex information accurately
