We ARE looking for an
M&E Inspector – HV/LV, Building Services and HVDC Equipment/Systems for one of our client’s projects in
Norfolk, UK .
In this role, you will ensure the highest standards of Mechanical and Electrical installation, testing, and commissioning are maintained throughout the project.
You will work closely with the site QA/QC Lead and contractors to ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, and safety standards.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Work closely with the site QA/QC Lead and site team to monitor electrical works performed by contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Liaise with contractor and subcontractor site representatives on all electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Participate in regular site meetings, including QC inspections, weekly progress meetings, and daily coordination meetings.
- Prepare detailed reports for the end-clients Site Manager or Package Manager as required.
- Perform surveillance and witness testing of electrical installation, testing, and commissioning works using agreed documentation such as ITPs.
- Monitor daily workmanship quality, including housekeeping, workshop conditions, operator qualifications, and material traceability.
- Support the review of related documentation prior to work commencement, including ITPs, method statements, and specifications.
- Verify drawings against design documents to ensure compliance throughout the works.
- Participate in joint walk-downs, final inspections, punch/snag identification, and follow-up inspections.
- Support the site team on technical deviations, site queries, and change requests related to electrical works.
- Report non-conformities and work queries to contractors for immediate action and notify the QA/QC Lead.
- Prepare daily/weekly site reports on electrical works.
- Review installation, testing, and commissioning records progressively and highlight issues for correction.
- Utilize the employer’s tool, Lets Build (Aproplan), to record inspections, surveillances, and observations.
- Support the review of final as-built records for electrical works.
- Collate discipline-specific lessons learned and provide to the employer’s team at defined stages.
- Build working relationships with stakeholders such as National Grid, EPCI contractors, and subcontractors.
- Support site safety improvement initiatives.
- Familiarize yourself with contracts, designs, health and safety plans, and employer requirements to perform the role effectively.
Requirements / Your Profile
- Time-served LV/MV or HV Equipment/Systems Inspector with HNC/HND or craft qualification in an Electrical LV/MV/HV discipline.
- Recognized site supervisor holding SSSTS, CCNSG Safety Passport (Supervisor), NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or similar.
- National Grid accredited “Person” and BESC trained.
- Extensive experience as a Client Inspector at a supervisory level in HVDC technology, preferably for offshore wind farms.
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively within a team.
- Working knowledge of CDM 2015 and construction health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience supervising major M&E works in similar substation environments.
