Job Title: Lead QC Inspector
We ARE looking for an experienced Lead QC Inspector to act as a Resident Inspector at a project in Newcastle, United Kingdom. You will oversee welding and structural quality inspections, ensuring compliance with project requirements, specifications, standards and applicable codes. The role requires extensive welding and structural inspection experience within shipyard or fabrication yard environments, preferably in the offshore industry, combined with proven experience leading and managing QC inspection teams.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate the QC inspection team, ensuring effective execution of inspection activities.
- Perform and oversee quality inspections related to welding and structural fabrication.
- Monitor fabrication activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved procedures, ITPs and applicable standards.
- Verify welding quality, structural integrity and compliance with technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Identify, document and report defects, deviations and non-conformities.
- Review welding, NDT, inspection and quality documentation, including relevant certificates.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, third-party inspection bodies and project stakeholders.
- Follow up on corrective actions and ensure non-conformities are properly addressed.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.
- Support quality assurance activities and ensure inspection requirements are met throughout the project.
Requirements / Your Profile:
- Mandatory: Significant experience as a quality representative and welding inspector in shipyards or fabrication yards, preferably within the offshore industry.
- Mandatory: 10β15 years of relevant experience for an Expert profile.
- Specialized and qualified in welding, structural inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT).
- Proven experience leading and managing QC inspection teams.
- Strong knowledge of welding standards, structural fabrication requirements and quality control procedures.
- Experience reviewing inspection documentation, welding records, NDT reports and relevant certificates.
- Experience with EPCI contracts.
- Very good written and spoken English.
- Relevant qualifications must remain valid throughout the assignment, with copies provided as part of the technical-commercial proposal.
- Mandatory: Relevant welding and structural inspection experience must be clearly demonstrated on the CV.
Location: Wallsend, Newcastle, United Kingdom β onsite, with travel potentially required.
