About us. Hydrogen is Scotland’s largest social media agency, delivering impactful social campaigns that help brands stand out and drive results. Part of PA Media Group, we work with ambitious clients across strategy, content, paid social, and insights – bringing together creativity, data, and innovation to power digital performance. We’re proud to foster a culture that values collaboration, curiosity, and balance. Our people make Hydrogen special, and as we continue to grow, we’re looking for someone who can help us work smarter, plan better, and deliver our best work every time.

About the role. We’re looking for a proactive and organized Resource Manager to bring structure, foresight, and efficiency to how work flows through our agency. This brand‑new role at Hydrogen is designed to help us plan capacity more effectively, manage utilisation across teams, and ensure projects have the right people in place at the right time. You’ll play a key role in keeping the agency running smoothly—balancing workloads, improving processes, and ensuring our teams can focus on delivering brilliant creative work.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning and resource management
  • Design and implement a capacity management system that supports the entire agency.
  • Allocate resources to projects based on timelines, requirements, and team strengths.
  • Keep schedules up to date to ensure resources are used efficiently and fairly.
  • Forecast upcoming capacity issues or dips in workload, communicating proactively with stakeholders.
  • Balance workloads across multiple departments to avoid bottlenecks or burnout.
  • Collaboration and process improvement
    • Work closely with project managers and department heads to understand priorities and upcoming needs.
    • Help shape project timelines, ensuring key milestones are supported with the right people and skills.
    • Identify and resolve resource conflicts quickly and diplomatically.
    • Choose and implement a scheduling system that integrates timesheets, contracts, and project spend tracking.
    • Continuously look for ways to improve agency workflows and efficiency through technology and best practice.
  • Freelancer management and forecasting
    • Forecast when freelance support is needed and manage those relationships efficiently.
    • Source, vet, and allocate freelancers to ensure project coverage and quality standards.
    • Maintain accurate data and generate clear reports on allocation, utilisation, and availability.

    You should apply if...

    • You have proven experience managing resources in a digital marketing, creative, or communications agency.
    • You’re calm under pressure, polite but assertive when needed, and able to influence with confidence and logic.
    • You’re a highly organized multitasker with an eye for detail and a head for data.
    • You’re familiar with tools such as Mavenlink, Scoro, Salesforce, Trello or similar systems.
    • You’re a proactive problem‑solver who spots issues early and finds practical, people‑focused solutions.

It would also be great if you:

    • Keep up to date with the latest tools and technology (including AI) to drive smarter, more efficient processes.

What’s in it for you. When you join Hydrogen, you’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative agency that values both creativity and balance.

    • Hybrid working (three days in the office).
    • Opportunities to shape processes and influence how the agency operates.
    • Five weeks’ holiday plus public holidays, with the option to buy extra leave.
    • Life assurance (4Ă— salary) and a company pension scheme.
    • Enhanced family leave for maternity, paternity and adoption.
    • Dedicated Wellbeing and Volunteering Days each year.
