Are you an experienced Build Manager looking to take ownership of large-scale, complex projects from the ground up? We’re working with a highly respected main contractor delivering some of the North West’s most prestigious schemes — with project values ranging from £70m to £80m across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and mixed-use sectors.
Due to continued success and a strong pipeline of upcoming work, they’re looking to appoint a proven Build Manager to join their Manchester team and lead the full life cycle of major builds.
The Role
As Build Manager, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of major projects — from pre-construction involvement and bid support, right through to completion and client handover. You’ll lead on all aspects of site delivery, ensuring safety, quality, and programme excellence across every stage.
Key responsibilities include:
- Take full ownership of projects from pre-construction through to site handover
- Provide buildability and logistical input during tender and planning stages
- Lead and motivate site teams to deliver safely, on time, and to the highest standards
- Manage subcontractors, resources, and on-site operations efficiently
- Work closely with commercial, design, and pre-construction teams to achieve project goals
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies
- Represent the company at client meetings and progress reviews
About You
You’ll be a confident and capable construction leader who’s delivered high-value, technically demanding projects. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, have strong attention to detail, and can build effective relationships across all levels.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager
- Experience delivering projects in excess of £50m, ideally up to £80m
- A background with a Tier 1 or leading regional main contractor
- Excellent understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and programme control
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach
- A track record of delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality builds
The Offer
- Highly competitive salary (dependent on experience)
- Company car or car allowance
- Pension, healthcare, and annual bonus
- Long-term career development and progression opportunities
- Exposure to landmark projects across the North West
