Our client, a respected regional construction contractor with a strong reputation for delivering community and public-sector developments, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a £3 million new-build leisure centre project in the Leeds area. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive construction professional to take ownership of a landmark community facility from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The Role: Reporting to the Construction Director, you will be responsible for the overall management and successful delivery of the leisure centre project, coordinating all site activities and maintaining strong relationships with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and local stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the construction and delivery of a £3 million new-build leisure centre
  • Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, and resources.
  • Oversee site management teams and specialist subcontractors.
  • Chair progress meetings and provide regular reports to senior management and the client.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Manage procurement activities and subcontractor performance.
  • Monitor project costs and implement effective cost-control measures.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure smooth commissioning, testing, and handover of the completed facility.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local authorities, consultants, and community stakeholders.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience delivering new-build construction projects as a Project Manager.
  • Experience managing projects valued between £2 million and £10 million.
  • Previous leisure, sports, education, healthcare, or public-sector project experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodology, programming, and project controls.
  • Experience administering JCT contracts.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to drive programme performance while maintaining quality standards.
  • Relevant construction qualification (Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications.
