Roofing and Wall Cladding Estimator Manchester £60,000 + Company Package Our client is a well know roofing and cladding business based in the Manchester area. Due to expansion, they are looking for an experience Estimator to join their team. The Roofing and Wall Cladding Estimator is responsible for calculating the cost, time, and resources needed to complete roofing and wall cladding projects. This role involves analysing project specifications, drawings, and site conditions to provide accurate estimates for material quantities, labour, and project timelines. The estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project costings are in line with client expectations and project budgets. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Review project specifications, blueprints, and construction drawings to determine the scope of work. Prepare detailed cost estimates for roofing and wall cladding systems, including materials, labour, and equipment. Evaluate and assess quantities of materials required for roofing and cladding installations. Use estimating software and industry-specific tools to generate precise and competitive estimates. Site Assessments: Conduct site visits to evaluate project conditions and assess the potential challenges involved with roofing or cladding installations. Take accurate measurements to ensure that estimates are based on real-world conditions. Identify and address any potential issues (e.g., access, environmental factors, structural concerns) that could affect costs or project timelines. Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Source and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for quotes on materials, labour, and other necessary resources. Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive rates while maintaining quality standards. Ensure that all materials are ordered in a timely manner to meet project deadlines. Budget Management: Ensure that the estimates align with the client’s budget and provide alternatives when necessary. Track costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure they stay within budget. Provide cost updates and adjustments to the project team as required. Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure all aspects of the roofing and cladding work are properly estimated and planned. Prepare and submit detailed proposals, bids, and reports to clients. Monitor and report any changes to project scope that could affect cost estimates. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, contracts, and correspondence with suppliers and clients. Ensure all roofing and cladding work complies with industry standards, building codes, and regulations. Required Skills and Qualifications: * Experience: 3+ years of experience in roofing and/or wall cladding estimation or a related field (construction, building materials). * Technical Knowledge: Understanding of roofing systems, cladding materials, and construction processes. * Proficiency in Estimating Software: Experience using tools such as Procore, Buildertrend, or similar estimation programs. * Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents. * Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure all aspects of a project are thoroughly estimated and accurately accounted for. * Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and project teams. * Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective solutions. * Time Management: Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines. Desirable Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field. * Certification from a recognized professional body (e.g., Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS)
