We are currently working in partnership with a well-established main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Design Manager to support delivery on a key project based in Leeds.

The Role
As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, ensuring coordination, compliance, and programme alignment across all disciplines.
You will play a key role in driving design quality and ensuring that all technical aspects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and coordinating the full design process
- Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Ensuring design information is delivered on time and in line with programme
- Reviewing drawings and specifications for buildability and compliance
- Identifying and mitigating design risks
- Supporting project teams through design-related challenges on site
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment
- Strong understanding of construction processes and technical design
- Experience working on commercial / residential / mixed‑use projects (adjust if needed)
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
