Our client is a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure, groundworks, and utility projects across the North West. Due to continued growth and framework wins, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager with a strong background in civil engineering, groundworks, and utilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional who has experience working within United Utilities (UU) frameworks or similar utility environments and is looking to join a business with long-term secured work and genuine progression opportunities.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the commercial management of multiple civils and infrastructure projects, supporting operational teams while ensuring strong financial performance across contracts.
- Candidates should have a strong understanding of NEC contracts, cost reporting, subcontractor management, compensation events, and final accounts within civils or utility projects.
- Lead the commercial management of civils, groundworks, and utility infrastructure projects.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost reporting, and cash flow.
- Oversee valuations, variations, compensation events, and final accounts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Provide commercial guidance and leadership to project teams.
- Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Ensure timely procurement and effective subcontractor management.
- Support operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and efficiently.
Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering. Strong background in groundworks, utilities, drainage, highways, or infrastructure projects. Experience working on United Utilities (UU) projects or utility frameworks. Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills. Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain relationships. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in commercial reporting and forecasting. Full UK driving licence.
