The Client
Our client is a well-established main contractor with a strong presence across the North West, delivering residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. With a healthy pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their procurement team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Materials Buyer.
The Role
Reporting into the Commercial Director, you will take ownership of the materials procurement function across multiple projects. Duties will include:
- Procurement of construction materials across all project phases
- Negotiating pricing, terms, and supply agreements with key suppliers
- Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Working closely with site, commercial, and estimating teams
- Managing order placement, delivery schedules, and logistics
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and market efficiencies
- Monitoring market trends and mitigating supply chain risks
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a Buyer / Senior Buyer role within construction
- Strong knowledge of materials procurement (groundworks through to finishes)
- Experience working for a main contractor or developer
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage workload across multiple live projects
