We're partnering with a fast-growing EdTech SaaS business that's transforming how education organisations operate through innovative technology. As they continue to scale, they're looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to lead their development function and play a key role in delivering their ambitious product roadmap. This is a genuine leadership position where you'll be responsible for building capability, driving delivery excellence and creating a high-performing engineering culture.
The Opportunity
- You'll lead a team of around 10 software developers, working closely with Product and Delivery to ensure engineering efforts are aligned with business priorities and customer needs.
- You'll shape engineering best practices, improve delivery predictability and mentor a talented team as the business continues to grow.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Manager or existing Head of Engineering who enjoys combining technical leadership with people development and commercial thinking.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of approximately 10 software engineers.
- Drive the successful delivery of the product roadmap, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Partner closely with Product and Delivery teams to prioritise work and balance technical excellence with commercial objectives.
- Champion engineering best practices, code quality and continuous improvement.
- Create an environment where engineers can perform at their best through coaching, clear objectives and effective leadership.
- Support architectural discussions and technical decision-making, drawing on your PHP and Laravel expertise.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, team performance and delivery efficiency.
- Work with senior stakeholders to provide visibility of progress, risks and technical direction.
About You
You'll be an experienced engineering leader who enjoys developing people as much as delivering technology. We're looking for someone with:
- Previous experience as a Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager or similar senior leadership role.
- Experience managing and developing engineering teams of around 10 or more developers.
- A strong technical background in PHP and Laravel.
- Experience working within SaaS or product-led technology businesses.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Product and Delivery.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance technical quality with business outcomes.
- A passion for building high-performing, engaged engineering teams.
