Maintenance Engineer Morecambe About the Role We’re looking for a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical and mechanical skills to keep our injection moulding, ultrasonic welding and automated assembly equipment running safely, reliably and efficiently. Based at our Morecambe site, you will take a hands-on role in planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, continuous improvement and equipment safety. Key Responsibilities * Carry out planned preventive maintenance and respond quickly to breakdowns across production and site equipment. * Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control-system faults. * Maintain injection moulding machines, ultrasonic welding equipment, automated assembly systems, robotics, conveyors and associated ancillary equipment. * Complete routine inspections, servicing, adjustments and component replacements to minimise downtime. * Work with production teams to identify recurring faults, improve machine reliability and support safe, efficient changeovers. * Implement practical continuous-improvement actions that improve uptime, quality, safety and energy efficiency. * Maintain accurate maintenance records, job reports, spare-parts information and planned maintenance schedules. * Support the installation, commissioning and validation of new or modified equipment. * Manage contractors where required and ensure work is completed safely and to the agreed standard. * Follow site procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work, including isolation and lock-off requirements. Skills and Experience * Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role within a manufacturing or production environment. * Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including motors, sensors, safety circuits, control panels and three-phase systems. * Strong mechanical skills, including bearings, drives, gearboxes, pneumatics and machine assemblies. * Experience maintaining injection moulding, ultrasonic welding or automated assembly equipment is highly desirable. * Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings and equipment manuals. * A structured approach to fault diagnosis, root-cause analysis and permanent corrective action. * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production, engineering and quality colleagues. * A safety-focused, organised and proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment. * Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of issues through to resolution. Qualifications * Recognised engineering apprenticeship or relevant electrical/mechanical engineering qualification. * Relevant electrical qualification or demonstrable industrial electrical competence. * Additional training in PLC fault-finding, robotics, pneumatics or machinery safety would be advantageous.
