We are seeking a Senior Client & Business Development Manager – Commodities, to join our client’s team, to drive strategic client growth across the commodities sector.
In this senior, hands-on role, you will partner closely with partners and senior lawyers to shape account strategies, win new business, and convert high-value opportunities with traders, miners, funds, and state-linked entities.
Acting as a trusted commercial adviser, you’ll bring sharp market intelligence and structured execution to turn strategy into real revenue.
You will manage key client relationships and leverage specialist marketing and pitching teams to deliver measurable results.
The Role
- Lead client development for priority accounts across traders, producers, investors, logistics operators, and state-owned enterprises.
- Own and drive tailored account plans, focusing on realistic, high-value opportunities to broaden client relationships globally.
- Facilitate senior-level client meetings, sector roadshows, and targeted engagement programmes aligned with leadership priorities.
- Maintain a disciplined pipeline, ensuring all opportunities are properly qualified, tracked, and progressed.
- Lead strategic pitches, panel bids, and proposals for major commodities clients.
- Help partners focus on winnable, high-priority work while tracking ROI and embedding key learnings into future bids.
- Work alongside sector leadership to turn global strategy into actionable BD campaigns.
- Deliver sharp market intelligence on sector trends, competitor moves, and client behaviour to sharpen the firm’s competitive edge.
- Ensure a clear, consistent value proposition across all regions and practice areas.
- Shape targeted marketing and communications campaigns tied directly to live commercial opportunities.
- Keep credentials and pitch materials current, practical, and client-focused.
- Position partners as trusted sector experts through coordinated thought leadership.
- Collaborate with regional and cross-sector leads to ensure joined-up delivery and continuously improve internal BD processes.

- Significant track record in senior business development or client management roles within legal services
- Strong understanding of global commodities markets, including trading, resources, logistics, the energy transition, and geopolitical drivers highly beneficial.
- Proven ability to lead complex pitches, manage key client programmes, and drive multi-partner initiatives.
- Highly commercial approach with the confidence to challenge, influence, and guide senior partners on high-value opportunities.
