Business Development Manager
Location: Bristol, London, Birmingham or Manchester
Salary: Up to £60k DOE
Full time: Permanent
Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office
We are on the hunt for an experienced Business Development Manager or an exceptional BD executive ready for that next step up. The role sits in our client’s award winning law firm based in either Bristol, London, Birmingham, or Manchester.
Your role will be to drive revenue growth, enhance our client’s reputation, and further develop their exceptional client base in these sectors. Reporting directly to the Senior Business Development Manager for the sector, you will have the support of BD Executives and work in close partnership with the wider Marketing and Business Development team.
The Role:
- Develop and execute BD/marketing plans aligned with sector strategy.
- Build relationships with priority clients, support Client Relationship Partners, and help grow Key and Sector Growth clients.
- Create and manage the annual BD budget, ensuring optimal use for maximum ROI and measurable outcomes.
- Collaborate on campaigns to position our client as industry experts.
- Deliver concise, market-focused client updates with Knowledge Lawyers and Digital teams.
- Identify opportunities to enhance our client's profile in legal and industry publications.
- Plan and execute engaging client and intermediary events (in-person and virtual).
- Secure high-profile speaking engagements.
- Create impactful materials aligned with brand guidelines.
- Support submissions for legal directories and awards.
- Promote sectors via website and social media in collaboration with Digital Communications.
- Provide regular updates on initiatives, key wins, and financial performance.
- Lead compelling bid development with the Bids team; excellent writing required.
- Manage target pipelines and generate leads through campaigns and reporting.
- Use CRM to segment and manage sales campaigns.
- Build relationships with intermediaries and clients to support lead generation.
- Act as a strategic partner to stakeholders for BD initiatives.
- Work closely with BD, marketing, and business teams to support firm growth. .
Who we are looking for:
- Graduate or equivalent, with a background in business development or marketing within professional services(legal services or accountancy). A CIM qualification is desirable.
- Financial services expertise is advantageous.
- Energetic, confident, proactive, and resilient.
- Strong multitasking abilities, time management, and attention to detail.
- Clear, concise, and credible communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of quickly gaining respect and trust, especially from senior stakeholders.
- Capable of working effectively under pressure and successfully delivering major projects.
- Able to grasp broader business challenges, generate innovative ideas, and add value to business development efforts.
- Highly commercial, with a solid understanding of client business needs.
