As Junior Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in leading the kitchen operation, ensuring exceptional food quality, consistency, and execution across all services. You will play an important role in supervising the kitchen team, maintaining standards, and helping deliver the produce-led, French-inspired cuisine that defines Buvette. As part of the opening team, you will help establish kitchen systems, team culture, and operational standards from day one, contributing to the successful launch of this globally recognised concept in London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the day-to-day running of kitchen operations
  • Leading sections during prep and service, ensuring smooth execution and consistency
  • Supervising and supporting Chef de Parties, Commis Chefs, and Kitchen Porters during service
  • Maintaining exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency across all menu items
  • Assisting with menu development, recipe implementation, and seasonal menu changes
  • Supporting team training, coaching, and development
  • Helping maintain kitchen organisation, prep schedules, and service readiness
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, allergen management, and health & safety standards
  • Supporting stock control, ordering, inventory management, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Assisting with kitchen administration and daily operational checks
  • Working collaboratively with front-of-house teams to deliver a seamless guest experience
  • Taking responsibility for service periods and kitchen operations when directed by senior chefs
  • Able to work rotating shift patterns which include earlies and lates

About You

  • Previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or experienced Chef de Partie within a quality-led restaurant environment
  • Experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and high-volume service
  • Passion for produce-led cooking and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Experience supporting and mentoring junior kitchen team members
  • Good understanding of food safety, HACCP, allergen management, and kitchen compliance requirements
  • Experience with stock control and kitchen administration would be advantageous
  • Computer literate with confidence using Microsoft Office and hospitality management platforms
  • Experience using Food Alert or similar compliance and food safety management systems would be advantageous
  • Calm, professional, and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Positive, team-focused attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Enthusiasm for being part of an opening team and growing within the business
  • Some shifts will start as early as 6:00am; reliable transport links are required

Salary & Benefits

  • Up to £20 per hour (a combination of basic salary and service charge)
