What You’ll Be Doing
The Senior Supply Planner is responsible for coordinating the up-stream supply chain so that WD-40 Company EIMEA has the right products, in the right quantity, in the right place at the right time in order to fulfill all customer orders and achieve defined performance metrics.
This role manages and maintains defined stock levels in branch warehouses and meets MD purchase requirements through effective management, coordination and execution of purchase orders on suppliers. Actively controls inventory through the use of systems and data and collaborating closely with the customer services teams, suppliers and logistics providers.
Supports training of new and existing Supply Planners in the company’s ERP system and planning processes.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
Materials, Inventory and Purchase Planning
Develops purchase plans for assigned suppliers after review of the EIMEA demand plan, assessment of stocks on hand and on order. Plans and initiates new purchase orders on suppliers in order to maintain defined branch stocks and meet market distributor (MD) orders to achieve defined metrics, such as OTIF, cost, min/max inventory levels, etc.
Analyze demand and sales fluctuations and review the impact on inventory and changes needed to open orders; expediting or postponing as required in order to maintain stock availability and meet customer order needs.
Plans and communicates expediting and de-expediting of materials
Amends purchase orders dates as notified, discussed and agreed with first tier suppliers.
Active participation and contribution to the monthly S&OP Demand Review alongside Demand Planning, Direct Branches, Distributors as the Supply Interface between Production and Sales, driving best practice, and market intelligence, to ensure correct levels of FG inventory is maintained, and supported, across markets.
Collaborates with the Customer Services tribe members in order to allow them to respond in a timely way with accurate answers to questions from markets and MDs about delivery dates, quantities, order changes, urgent order needs, etc.
Leads the ongoing research, development and implementation of replenishment tools to further increase productivity within the function.
Responsible for training new and existing Supply Planners in the company’s ERP system and planning processes.
Using the systems available, use best practice methods to raise new orders, minimising the manual efforts and automating where possible.
Maintaining item master data as it relates to planning and ordering of products.
Manage inventory levels at assigned warehouse(s) to minimize stock-outs and cost while maintain agreed service levels and achieving defined goals
Anticipate potential problems; implement corrective action to minimize re-occurrence in the future.
Propose and implement process improvements that drive efficiency and deliver increased customer satisfaction.
Regular reporting on stock and order levels as well as availability and provision data. Works with sales and supplier to manage slow moving and obsolete inventory.
Analyze data and produce monthly reports agreed KPIs to summarise issues, current status, and resolution, e.g. stock turnover and aged stock analysis.
Management of Z stocks held, ensuring that sufficient is held to protect delivery whilst minimizing inventory.
Acts as the principal contact with assigned suppliers regarding orders, shipping requirements, production plans, lead times, material supply issues, date and quantity changes and any other factors that might affect an order, such as packaging issues (artworks, delivery of card and cans, BOM, etc.) and quality concerns.
Collaborative liaison with aerosol fillers on production plans, formulations, product sizes and other product specifications to maximise efficiency and minimize cost within production capacities.
Supports tier 1 suppliers with resolving problems further up in the supply chain, for example, primary or secondary packaging, chemical substances, etc.
Develops long-term relationships and rapport with key suppliers to facilitate mutual gains and the balanced resolution of supply chain issues.
Communicates effectively with suppliers at all levels to facilitate complete order fulfilment.
Resolve with non-routine events and participate in initiatives to resolve short and medium-term supply issues.
Experience
- Demonstrate 3 – 5 years’ experience of working in a supply chain role – in supply chain management related to manufacturing production and component in one of the following functions: Supply Chain, Purchasing , Quality or specifications.
- Strong background in Materials Management and/or Manufacturing Operations preferred.
- Analytical abilities, attention to detail and quick to learn and develop.
- Ideally some experience of using ERP (or similar) systems.
