Join WCMC to support a global platform working to strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity and sustainable development. WCMC is a UK-based registered charity that operates in seamless collaboration with the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC). Together, we are confronting the global crisis facing nature.
Consultancy Position: We have an exciting consultancy opportunity for an experienced consultant with fundraising experience. The consultancy role will be working on the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) to support the expansion of IPBES global fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
Remote | 12-month consultancy | USD 60,000 total remuneration
Directed and overseen by WCMC, the consultant will work with the IPBES Secretariat to help strengthen resource mobilization for IPBES work on biodiversity, ecosystem services and sustainable development.
Key responsibilities:
- Research and map prospective donors and funding opportunities
- Monitor grants, proposals and philanthropic trends
- Support donor stewardship and fundraising events
- Assist with fundraising strategy benchmarking and data analysis
- Draft proposals, cases for support and due diligence documentation
- Identify biodiversity and sustainability events with fundraising potential
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- At least 2 years’ experience in fundraising or resource mobilization
- Strong research, writing and organizational skills
- Experience with international organizations, environmental NGOs or sustainability initiatives desirable
- Excellent English communication skills

- Duration: 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027
- Location: Remote
- Remuneration: USD 60,000 total across the 12 month period
- Two in-person meetings in Bonn, Germany required
