Location: Based at Head Office nr Taunton, field work across the southwest

Contract: Full time (45 hours per week)

As part of our continued growth, we have a vacancy for a Junior Project Engineer to join our growing team based from our head office base in Wiveliscombe, Somerset. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in groundworks or civil engineering who is ready to take ownership of projects from survey to completion.

The purpose of the role is to oversee the delivery of wastewater and drainage projects from initial site surveys through to handover. You’ll be responsible for developing practical, cost-effective solutions, coordinating resources, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll also support the preparation of bids and technical documentation, and play a key role in maintaining compliance with health and safety and statutory requirements.

  • Prepare site plans, technical reports, and audits independently
  • Develop and deliver cost-effective engineering solutions
  • Plan and manage procurement of materials and plant at best value
  • Create bills of materials and resource plans for each project
  • Coordinate statutory permissions (e.g. TTRO, Building Control, Flood Risk Consents)
  • Prepare Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, and safety files
  • Support project close‑down including quality checks, site clearance, and client handover
  • Assist with bid preparation, contract administration, and variation tracking
  • Maintain accurate project records including photographic and completion documentation

Background in civil engineering, groundworks, drainage, or construction

Technically minded with strong problem‑solving skills

Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel

Physically able and confident working on active construction sites

Full UK driving licence (ability to drive tipper/trailer vehicles preferred)

Experience with plant operations and safe excavation to depths of 3–5m

Knowledge of shoring techniques and construction contracts (desirable)

SSSTS/SMSTS qualification (or working towards) is a bonus
