Base pay range

$17.73/hr – $23.64/hr

Weston County Health Services is seeking a PRN Laundry Aid Assistant to play a vital role in supporting our patients and residents. In this dynamic position, you’ll help provide essential services. Position Summary Section:

Under general direction a Laundry Aid picks up, washes, dries, folds, and delivers laundry to provide excellent customer service and quality of care. Demonstrates the ability to utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.

Essential Functions Section:

  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS).
  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Team and WCHS.
  • Performs laundry services by following a check list or as instructed by the Infection Prevention Nurse.
  • Collecting, storing, cleaning, transporting, and maintaining laundry for residents, patients, staff, and the organization in a detailed and professional manner in accordance to policy and procedure.
  • Completes Work Assignments in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  • Uses and maintains laundry equipment properly.
  • Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
  • Always introduces self to patients, residents, families, and visitors.
  • Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
  • Replenishes supplies as needed.
  • Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions.
  • Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Works all shifts as assigned.
  • Has the ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
  • Observes safety-precautions at all times.
  • Maintains age specific safety precautions.
  • Has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Has the ability to read and understand equipment operation manual.
  • Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and interdepartmental objectives.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, training, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education and learning.

Professional Requirements Section:

  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Wears identification while on duty.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Represents WCHS in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Complies with all WCHS policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of WCHS.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Attends regular staff meetings and in-services.

Minimum Qualifications Section:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively in English.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Section:

  • Knowledge of environmental services.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Has the ability to determine an appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
  • Has the ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Has the ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
  • Has the ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information.
  • Has the ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Has the ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.

Physical Requirements Section:

  • Working irregular hours including weekends, holidays, and other circumstances that would require EVS to be present.
  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment.
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions.
  • Pushing and pulling of heavy objects.
  • Full range of body motion including during handling and lifting.
  • Positions requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
  • Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
