This is a part-time on-site role for a Health & Social Care Assessor based in Port Talbot. The Assessor will be responsible for supporting and guiding learners in achieving their Health and Social Care qualifications. Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing learner progress
- Delivering training sessions
- Providing constructive feedback
- Maintaining accurate records
- Collaborating with employers and learners to meet performance targets and ensure compliance with standards
The post holder will be required to deliver and assess the above qualifications through WAG funded apprenticeship programmes. All programmes are time bound and require the delivery of frameworks, including the delivery of Essential Skills and/or technical certificates where applicable. The post will demand a high degree of experience and skills and the ability to work well with others as well as being self-motivated and having the ability to work to targets. Health and safety is important in all aspects of this role and compliance is mandatory.
The post holder will work with different types of people of different ages and backgrounds. As well as working with learners, it will be necessary to liaise with peer tutor/assessors, inside the organisation as well as outside including employers and managers. Some learners may have learning difficulties requiring a high degree of sensitivity.
List Of Key Tasks:
- Deliver NVQ Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 through the Foundation Apprentice, Apprenticeship, Advanced Apprenticeship and Higher Apprenticeship Welsh Government programmes.
- Carry out induction paperwork.
- Visit learners at their placements on a monthly basis as a minimum.
- Monitor and review learner progress.
- Action plan and target learners’ progression.
- Tutor as required to meet the individual needs of each learner.
- Assess learner competence.
- Complete learners’ full framework within expected end dates.
- Liaise with employers on learner development.
- Liaise with the Internal Verifier.
- Develop self, and maintain knowledge in relevant field at all times. Staying informed as to relevant skill and qualification levels required for effective performance. Maintain CPD.
- Develop self in undertaking the internal verification award in order to cross verify with colleagues.
- Manage evolve and bookings for on-line tests.
- Ensure all training activities and materials meet with relevant organisational and statutory policies, including health and safety, employment and equality laws.
- Be involved in the appraisal process for development and review.
- Canvass for new learners in order to maintain an acceptable case load of learners.
- Attend career conventions, schools talks etc.
- Ensure that Company policies are observed.
- Flexible outlook in order to adapt to the changing needs of the market.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Social Work and Social Services
- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Social Support abilities
- Expertise in Family Services and working effectively with diverse groups
- Ability to mentor and guide learners through qualification processes
- Relevant assessing or teaching qualification is highly desirable
- Knowledge of Health and Social Care industry standards and regulations is advantageous
