And we do it all with a commitment to doing business sustainably. Right now, we’re expanding our services, strengthening our local presence, and nurturing a culture of excellence.

We are looking for x2 talented and ambitious school leavers to join our External Audit team, based in our Glasgow office.

About the Wbg School Leaver Programme:

As part of our continued investment in our team, underlining our commitment to developing talent from within and supporting the next generation of professionals, we’re excited to be launching our School Leaver Programme in conjunction with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), commencing in August 2026. Based in Glasgow, you will be part of a large team, who will help support your growth and development. The Wbg School Leaver Programme supports you during your first five years of employment and offers an exceptional opportunity to begin your career in accountancy while continuing your education. You’ll gain hands‑on work experience from day one, supported by structured coaching and mentoring. Alongside your practical experience, you’ll develop key professional and interpersonal skills through our in‑house Wbg Training Academy. The programme also provides sponsorship to achieve your Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with ICAS and the opportunity to go on to gain a degree with Robert Gordon University – combining real‑world experience with academic achievement.

Our External Audit team plays a critical role in helping our clients meet their statutory obligations while delivering real value beyond compliance. We support organisations across a broad range of sectors, including corporate, charity, education, housing associations, and SMEs/owner‑managed businesses, with services such as statutory audits, accounts preparation, consolidations, independent examinations, and grant audits. You will gain first‑hand experience of supporting businesses and organisations of all sizes, from large national groups to small and medium‑sized enterprises, charities, and housing associations. The scope of our work is wide and varied. We work directly with clients across the UK, developing strong professional relationships and you will gain valuable insights into how different organisations operate. Alongside your practical experience, you will undertake professional training with ICAS, providing you with the opportunity to qualify as a Chartered Accountant while building a solid foundation in audit and assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in accounts preparation
  • Assisting in audit assignments
  • Liaising with the full range of clients – private, public and charitable sectors
  • Any other appropriate tasks, as directed

What we are looking for:

  • Working towards, or holding at least four SQA Highers at B grade or above, 2 of which should be Maths & English
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills. A clear and positive communicator who can build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Organised, adaptable, and able to manage time effectively to balance exam study and client work.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous work experience within a professional office environment is beneficial.

Personal Qualities:

  • Proven organisational skills and ability to take ownership of tasks.
  • Enthusiastic, results‑driven, and cooperative.
  • Positive and confident approach to work.
  • Client‑focused with a quality approach (first time, on time, every time).
  • Strong team player with the ability to use initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
