About the Wbg School Leaver Programme

We’re looking for a Trainee Tax Advisor to join our Glasgow office. This is an entry-level role, ideal for a high school leaver who is keen to start their career in accounting and tax. You’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative team where learning is encouraged and growth is supported. You’ll assist with the preparation of tax returns, maintain accurate records, support the team in client work, and gain exposure to both personal and corporate tax. This role is a great first step towards pursuing your formal tax qualification, ATT and progressing onto CTA.

About the Role

In this role, you will support the Tax team with the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns, while assisting with data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate client records. You will play a key part in helping the team meet deadlines and ensuring work is completed with precision. Following company procedures for compliance and quality will be an essential part of your responsibilities, and you will have opportunities to attend training sessions and workshops to further develop your technical knowledge. You will also support colleagues with day-to-day tasks and client queries, contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment. By assisting with a variety of tasks and learning from experienced team members, you will gain practical experience in tax processes while helping the team deliver high-quality services to clients.

We work directly with clients across the UK, developing strong professional relationships and you will gain valuable insights into how different organisations operate. Alongside your practical experience, you will undertake professional training towards the ATT (Association of Tax Technicians) with the opportunity to progress to achieve the CTA (Chartered Tax Association) qualification. As a key member of our collaborative and growing team, you will be supported by senior colleagues who are committed to developing talent, promoting professional advancement, and delivering excellent client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help the team ensure deadlines are met and work is accurate.
  • Learn and follow company procedures for compliance and quality.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to develop your technical knowledge.
  • Support colleagues with day-to-day tasks and client queries.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and an interest in tax and business.
  • SQA Highers BBBB (English and Maths mandatory).
  • Interest in finance, accounting, or business.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.
  • Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn.

Personal Qualities

  • Willingness to take responsibility and learn new skills.
  • Positive attitude and cooperative mindset.
  • Client-focused and professional.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
