We are looking for x2 talented and ambitious school leavers to join our External Audit team, based in our Glasgow office.
About the Wbg School Leaver Programme
As part of our continued investment in our team, underlining our commitment to developing talent from within and supporting the next generation of professionals, we’re excited to be launching our School Leaver Programme in conjunction with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), commencing in August 2026. Based in Glasgow, you will be part of a large team, who will help support your growth and development. The Wbg School Leaver Programme supports you during your first five years of employment and offers an exceptional opportunity to begin your career in accountancy while continuing your education. You’ll gain hands‑on work experience from day one, supported by structured coaching and mentoring. Alongside your practical experience, you’ll develop key professional and interpersonal skills through our in‑house Wbg Training Academy. The programme also provides sponsorship to achieve your Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with ICAS and the opportunity to go on to gain a degree with Robert Gordon University – combining real‑world experience with academic achievement.
About the role
Our External Audit team plays a critical role in helping our clients meet their statutory obligations while delivering real value beyond compliance. We support organisations across a broad range of sectors, including corporate, charity, education, housing associations, and SMEs/owner‑managed businesses, with services such as statutory audits, accounts preparation, consolidations, independent examinations, and grant audits. You will gain first‑hand experience of supporting businesses and organisations of all sizes, from large national groups to small and medium‑sized enterprises, charities, and housing associations. The scope of our work is wide and varied. We work directly with clients across the UK, developing strong professional relationships and you will gain valuable insights into how different organisations operate. Alongside your practical experience, you will undertake professional training with ICAS, providing you with the opportunity to qualify as a Chartered Accountant while building a solid foundation in audit and assurance.
As part of our collaborative and growing team, you will be supported by senior colleagues who are committed to developing talent, promoting professional advancement, and delivering excellent client service. With a department made up of 2 Partners, 2 Directors, and a diverse team of managers, qualified staff, and 24 CA trainees, you will benefit from close guidance, mentoring, and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals. This is a role that offers true variety, excellent training, and the chance to contribute to meaningful work across sectors. What we are looking for

- Working towards, or holding at least four SQA Highers at B grade or above, 2 of which should be Maths & English

- Organised, adaptable, and able to manage time effectively to balance exam study and client work.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous work experience within a professional office environment is beneficial.
