The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is a global community of over 215 of the world’s leading businesses driving systems transformation for a better world in which 9+ billion people can live well, within planetary boundaries, by mid-century. Together, we transform the systems we work in to limit the impact of the climate crisis, restore nature, and tackle inequality. We accelerate value chain transformation across key sectors and reshape the financial system to reward sustainable leadership and action through a lower cost of capital. Through the exchange of best practices, improving performance, accessing education, forming partnerships, and shaping the policy agenda, we drive progress in businesses and sharpen the accountability of their performance.

About the Partnership for Carbon Transparency (PACT): PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency) is the global, open, neutral infrastructure for product-level carbon data exchange, often described as the PACT enables reliable, interoperable data flows between suppliers, buyers, regulators, and investors across global value chains. Operating at two layers, the infrastructure (the pipes) and the data (the content), PACT defines not just how data flows, but what data flows and at what level of rigor. From regulatory compliance (CBAM, EU Digital Product Passport) to procurement, financial decision‑making, and assurance, PACT serves multiple use cases with fit‑for‑purpose data packages. PACT is at an exciting inflection point: moving from standard‑setting to full‑scale operationalization, with growing adoption across industry, regulatory, and financial ecosystems globally. We move at pace, in an agile, collaborative, mission‑driven environment.

Job Overview: This is one of PACT's most critical leadership positions. As Director, Head of Carbon Data, you will own everything that moves through the pipes: the data standards and methodology, use‑case architecture, assurance frameworks, and the implementation feedback loop that keeps our solutions fit for purpose. You are the content authority for PACT, ensuring what flows through the infrastructure is rigorous, applicable, and valuable for every stakeholder it serves. You will convene the community that makes PACT work in practice: corporates and suppliers, standard‑setters (GHG Protocol, ISO, Carbon Accounting Alliance), industry initiatives, auditors, financial institutions, regulators, and funders. You will represent PACT on the global stage and translate strategy into real‑world impact.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the overall leadership and evolution of PACT, helping shape the initiative's future direction, partnerships, and positioning as the global infrastructure for product‑level sustainability data.
  • Content Leadership: Own and evolve the PACT data framework and methodology, ensuring rigor, regulatory alignment, and applicability across all use cases.
  • Use‑Case Development: Define fit‑for‑purpose data packages and assurance requirements for each use case, covering regulatory (CBAM, DPP), procurement, and financial sector applications.
  • Implementation and Feedback Loops: Lead pilots with corporates and suppliers, and build a systematic loop from implementation experience back into methodology and solutions development.
  • Scalable Solutions and Open Infrastructure: Help build the open infrastructure role PACT is taking on, designing scalable solutions and frameworks that enable growth, broader adoption, and long‑term impact across sectors and geographies.
  • Community and Partnerships: Convene and grow the PACT community across corporates, suppliers, standard‑setters, auditors, financial institutions, and regulators, ensuring we build valuable, fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
  • Standards and Ecosystem Engagement: Manage strategic relationships with GHG Protocol, ISO, and the Carbon Accounting Alliance, ensuring alignment and collective impact.
  • Global Representation: Represent PACT at high‑level global fora and events, and produce thought leadership that advances the field and positions PACT as the authoritative infrastructure for product carbon data.
  • Regulatory Engagement: Engage with regulators and policymakers globally to embed PACT's methodology in key regulatory frameworks and ensure PACT remains ahead of the curve on compliance requirements.

Qualifications, skills and experience: You are a recognized expert in carbon accounting and product‑level emissions who combines technical depth with a practical, mission‑driven instinct. You are as comfortable shaping strategy as you are rolling up your sleeves and doing the work. Collaborative, humble, and a true team player, you thrive in a fast‑moving, agile environment and bring out the best in the people around you. At least 12‑15 years of experience in carbon accounting, product carbon foot printing, or lifecycle assessment, with hands‑on knowledge of GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, and the PACT methodology. Experience working both on the development of standards and in their real‑world adoption by corporates and suppliers. You understand the gap between methodology and practice and know how to bridge it. Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape for product‑level carbon data, including CBAM, the EU Digital Product Passport, and equivalent mechanisms globally. Established relationships across the carbon data ecosystem: standard‑setters, industry associations, and assurance providers. Exposure to or genuine curiosity about financial sector applications of carbon data (banks, investors, insurers) is a strong advantage, as PACT is actively developing this use case. Proven ability to convene diverse, multi‑stakeholder groups and drive them toward shared outcomes. Excellent communicator in writing and in person, across cultures and sectors. A leader who is equally at home driving strategy and doing the work. Collaborative, humble, and a genuine team player, with experience in agile, lean, and matrixed environments. Genuine passion for the mission: decarbonization and making sustainability data actionable at scale. Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or economics). Fluency in English required; additional languages are an advantage.
