The Fleet Service and Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, performance, and operational readiness of Wayve’s autonomous vehicle fleet. From routine servicing and diagnostics to urgent repairs and vehicle readiness for high-visibility events, technicians ensure our fleet remains in peak condition to support testing, demonstrations, and real-world deployment. Reporting to the Fleet Service Manager, this hands-on role requires strong mechanical knowledge, the ability to work with modern diagnostic systems, and a proactive, safety-conscious mindset. Working closely with engineering, drivers, and operations teams, you’ll help keep autonomy moving forward, every single day.

Key responsibilities:

  • Routine & Preventative Maintenance – Execute scheduled servicing and inspections per manufacturer and internal guidelines.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Fault Resolution – Diagnose and repair a wide range of issues using OEM documentation and advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Vehicle Readiness for Demonstrations – Ensure vehicles meet high standards of cleanliness, reliability, and functionality for public-facing use.
  • Workshop Safety & Compliance – Adhere to safety best practices, risk assessments, and regulations.
  • Repair Documentation & Tracking – Accurately record faults found, actions taken, and parts used using digital tools.
  • Feedback into Fleet Performance – Communicate recurring issues or improvement ideas to the Fleet Service Manager and Field Engineering teams.
  • Customer-Facing Communication – Engage with fleet drivers to resolve issues they report and ensure a positive operational experience.

About you

In order to set you up for success as a Fleet Servicing and Maintenance Technician at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.

Essential

  • Relevant qualifications in automotive servicing, diagnostics and repairs.
  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician in an automotive servicing or fleet environment.
  • Strong diagnostics capability using OEM or third-party diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and bodywork repairs using OEM repair manuals.
  • Competent with computer systems for tracking and recording maintenance tasks (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Comfortable interacting with engineers, operations staff, and drivers.
  • Strong understanding of workshop safety and compliance standards.
  • UK driving license.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with vehicles equipped with ADAS or autonomous technology.
  • Understanding of AV fleet operational needs in a high-uptime environment.
  • Passion for emerging mobility technologies and willingness to learn new systems.

Shift Pattern - Rotation issued 4 weeks in advance. Monday to Sunday - 40 hours per week/weekend (must be able to work weekends) 06:00-15:00 13:00-22:00.
