The role of Engineering Manager for Map & Route involves leading the team responsible for how mapping context, routing decisions, and operational constraints translate into reliable, production-grade vehicle behaviour. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of vehicle software, cloud services, data pipelines, and real-world operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Map & Route team, setting direction, execution cadence, and delivery standards.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle for mapping and routing capabilities: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.
- Define and drive clear system boundaries, interfaces, and data contracts across teams to reduce duplication and improve integration.
- Partner with stakeholders across vehicle software, autonomy, product, safety, and operations to align priorities and make crisp trade-offs.
- Drive operational excellence for production services, including observability, SLIs/SLOs, incident response, and continuous improvement.
About You:
In order to set you up for success as an Engineering Manager at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.
Essential:
- 2+ years leading and developing an engineering team, delivering outcomes through others across multiple quarters.
- Strong systems and architecture judgement, with experience designing and evolving production services, APIs, and data flows.
- Proven ownership of production systems with reliability expectations, including on-call, incident response, monitoring, and operational improvement.
- Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to drive clarity and execution in ambiguity.
Desirable:
- Experience working across vehicle software and cloud services, or similarly complex hybrid software environments.
- Experience defining clear ownership boundaries and shared interfaces across multiple teams or product lines.
- Experience working with commercial suppliers or external vendors in a data, platform, or infrastructure context.
This is a full-time role based in our office in London. At Wayve we want the best of all worlds so we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships and learning, and time spent working from home.
