Where you will have an impact
We're looking for leaders who can foster innovation, drive strategic initiatives, and steer teams towards achieving breakthroughs in data centric AI. This role will sit in our Embodied AI division which consists of modelling, robotics and data teams working together to deliver an Autonomous Driving product.
You will grow the team according to the product roadmap on commercialisation timelines. You will be expected to establish solid ML practices from the start, developing our data centric AI roadmap and owning our offline perception systems.
Challenges you will own:
- Building an effective and engaged data centric AI team
- Working cross-functionally to set the broader data centric AI strategy and roadmap for Wayve
- Growing and nurturing talented engineers through their career journey to help them achieve their maximum potential
- Developing technical strategies for offline perception, expanding the data horizon and generating insights about data
- Ensuring projects are resourced in a way that balances the needs of the business with the needs of the individuals
- Partnering with leadership to maintain a culture of collaboration, impact, innovation, and health
- Reviewing upcoming decisions and assess any dependencies or risks
- Debug teams and projects - ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, think creatively, eliminate possible factors that could be contributing to a bug, add feedback loops, and then assess feedback
What you will bring to Wayve:
Essential:
- Prior experience as a manager of ML development teams
- Passionate about fostering personal and professional growth in individual team members
- Industry experience with data centric development with real-world product impact
- Experience with roadmap planning, stakeholder management, requirements gathering and alignment with peers towards milestones and deliverables
- Prior hands-on ML development experience
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar experience
Desirable:
- Experience working in a project-based (“matrix”) operating environment
- Strong knowledge of state of the art Computer Vision Deep Learning on tasks such as object detection, semantic segmentation, scene / object understanding, etc.
- Experience developing machine learning solutions for Autonomous Vehicles
- Experience generating or working in the data labelling space using either human annotation or ML assisted labelling
