At Wayve we're committed to creating a diverse, fair and respectful culture that is inclusive of everyone based on their unique skills and perspectives. Founded in 2017, Wayve is the leading developer of Embodied AI technology. Our advanced AI software and foundation models enable vehicles to perceive, understand, and navigate any complex environment, enhancing the usability and safety of automated driving systems. Our vision is to create autonomy that propels the world forward.
As a Fullstack Engineer in the Evaluation Tools group, you’ll help build the internal products that enable faster iteration on developing our AI Driver, a deeper understanding of driving performance, and scaling evaluation to millions of scenarios. Our tools are critical to the workflow of model developers, researchers, QA engineers, and others building and validating the AI Driver. You’ll work across the stack to ship end-to-end features that accelerate our Driving Development Workflow - from building intuitive UI for creating and managing tests, to integrating with large-scale backends that serve evaluation results and experiment metadata.
You’ll own the full product lifecycle: talking to users, shaping ideas, building robust software, and validating impact. Given evaluation is an evolving challenge, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to define new projects to meet the emerging needs of our users.
This role sits within the AI Evaluation division and may involve work across both sub-teams in the Evaluation Tools group:
- AV Insights - This team provides tools for developers and decision makers to understand introspect, debug, and root-cause evaluation results.
- Evaluation Workflows - This team provides tools needed to quickly build and manage automated test coverage at scale, and close the loop on capturing on-road experiences into tests.
We move fast, but never at the cost of reliability or quality. You’ll join a high-trust team that values clear ownership, thoughtful collaboration, and a shared commitment to user impact.
Our ability to understand how the AI Driver performs - and to improve it - depends on the strength of our evaluation tooling. We’re aiming to:
- Scale to millions of off-road tests.
- Turn every on-road intervention into a reusable test.
- Enable fast, explainable triage and debugging.
- Unlock fast, scalable test creation by making it easy to discover and use real and synthetic driving scenarios.
- Build trust in the insights we generate, so teams can make fast, confident decisions grounded in clear evidence.
Your work will directly shape the experience of internal users and impact every major model release at Wayve.
Challenges you will own:
- Build fullstack features across modern front-end frameworks and service-oriented backends.
- Collaborate with users and cross-functional partners (PM, Design, Model Development) to understand pain points and test ideas.
- Ship high-quality software, with strong attention to reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that scale across product areas and teams.
- Use AI tools to improve how we build - from speeding up development to refining team workflows and product quality.
In order to set you up for success as a Fullstack Software Engineer at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience:
- Strong SQL skills with a solid understanding of database setup, access controls, and optimisation.
- Designing and implementing reliable, high-performance APIs.
- Track record of building robust, maintainable systems and applying engineering best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-context, ambiguous environment.
- You are a power user of AI development tools and have a mindset for building AI-augmented workflows.
- Experience building tools for technical users (ML, robotics, infrastructure).
- Experience with scientific data visualisation or complex data interfaces.
- Experience with large-scale job orchestration frameworks such as Flyte, Spark or similar.
- Knowledge of GraphQL, Prisma, Kafka, or modern cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
- Exposure to AI/ML model development workflows and data tooling.
