Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job; it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role: We are seeking a passionate and committed Young People Resilience Worker to support children, young people, and families in reducing the harm caused by substance use across individuals, families, and the wider community. Working as part of the County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service, you will deliver high-quality, holistic interventions within a fully integrated service model. This is a community-based role where you will play a vital part in improving outcomes for young people through tailored support, recovery planning, and strong partnership working. In this role, you’ll provide a range of interventions including assessments, recovery planning, psychosocial interventions (PSIs), and structured support, ensuring each individual receives personalised and effective care.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people, delivering person-centred care and regularly reviewing progress and outcomes.
  • Support young adults with ongoing treatment, including liaison around clinical interventions where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-agency team, engaging with professionals across health, education, and social care.
  • Use creative and innovative approaches to engage young people, encouraging sustained participation and successful outcomes.
  • Support service users through key transitions, including movement into adult services.
  • Apply strong communication and therapeutic skills when working with children, young people, and families to build trust and promote positive change.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience or knowledge of delivering interventions such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Brief Interventions, PSIs, CBT, and ITEP.
  • A good understanding of harm reduction approaches relating to substance misuse.
  • Knowledge of recovery-focused models and care planning processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support children, young people, and families effectively.
  • Ability to work independently within the community and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
  • A full UK driving licence (required for community-based work).
  • Desirable: Previous experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable groups.

What We Offer: We value the people who make a difference every day. Alongside meaningful work, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package: 27 days annual leave, rising to 32 after 1 year.
