About the Role:

Our Floating Support Service provides flexible, person-centred support to individuals experiencing homelessness and challenges related to drug and alcohol misuse. We work across community settings, supported accommodation, and outreach services to empower people to improve their wellbeing, sustain accommodation, reduce harm, and move towards greater independence. The service supports adults with a range of complex and multiple needs, including substance misuse, mental health challenges, offending behaviour, and social isolation. Our approach is recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and centred around building positive, trusting relationships that promote long-term stability and resilience.

What You’ll Do:

  • As a Floating Support Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting individuals to maintain and sustain their accommodation and reduce the risk of homelessness.
  • Develop independent living skills, confidence, and personal resilience.
  • Access housing, benefits, healthcare, treatment services, education, training, and employment opportunities.
  • Improve wellbeing through tailored support planning and practical assistance.
  • Reduce harm and engage positively with recovery-focused services relating to drug and alcohol use.
  • Build positive routines and strengthen connections within their local community.

You’ll provide flexible support through home visits, outreach work, welfare checks, and partnership working with a range of external agencies. You’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive team, ensuring individuals receive compassionate, person-centred support that reflects their unique needs and goals.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, motivated, and committed to supporting individuals with complex needs to achieve positive outcomes. You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience working with individuals affected by homelessness, substance misuse, mental health challenges, or social exclusion.
  • An understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and recovery-focused support approaches.
  • The ability to build positive professional relationships and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Confidence working independently in community and outreach-based settings, as well as collaboratively within a wider team.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting individuals with varying levels of need.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role involves travelling across the community to carry out home visits, outreach work, and appointments with service users.
  • Experience in support work or housing-related services is desirable, although we welcome applicants with transferable skills, relevant lived experience, and a genuine passion for helping others make positive changes in their lives.
