About the Role: Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP) has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator programmes working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 29 years. We are currently seeking two dynamic practitioners to join our Young People’s service (Yuva) in Surrey, working directly with young people using abuse and violence and their families. This role works within the Yuva team to develop and deliver intervention and safety programmes to families affected by Child to Parent Violence and Young People’s Intimate Partner Violence.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and deliver intervention and safety programmes for families affected by Child to Parent Violence and Young People’s Intimate Partner Violence.
- Work directly with young people and their parents/carers delivering structured one-to-one and group interventions.
- Manage referrals, assess risk and suitability for therapeutic intervention, and engage families.
- Work flexibly across multiple locations, including co-location within Local Authority Children and Families Services and outreach in schools and other referring services.
- Provide specialist support to professionals through expert consultations and training.
- Collaborate closely with partner agencies including Children’s Services and Youth Offending Services.
- Maintain accurate records, manage administrative responsibilities, and produce professional reports.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of DVIP’s young people’s services in line with RESPECT practice standards.
To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:
- A strong understanding of adolescent development, domestic abuse, child abuse, trauma, and their impact on young people.
- Knowledge of the nature and effects of domestic violence on women, children, and parent-child relationships.
- Experience providing direct work with young people and parents/carers, responding constructively to challenging behaviour.
- Experience delivering structured one-to-one and/or group behavioural change interventions.
- Experience working with children and adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and confidence handling sensitive and complex issues.
- Ability to manage workload flexibly, including some early evening work.
