We are delighted to partner with a progressive secondary school in Surrey, deeply committed to inclusive education, in their search for a dedicated and experienced SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). This full-time, permanent position commences in September and presents a unique opportunity to lead and shape the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role

As the SENDCo, you will play a pivotal role in championing the needs of SEND students within the school community. You will lead the development and implementation of effective SEND strategies, ensuring that all students receive the support and resources they require to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically lead and manage the school's SEND provision, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and support plans.
  • Oversee the assessment and identification of SEND students, providing guidance and support to staff in meeting their diverse needs.
  • Lead professional development initiatives for staff, promoting a whole-school approach to inclusive education.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision, using data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • Proven experience in a SENDCo or similar leadership role within a mainstream secondary school.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, policy, and practice.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
