Position Overview: The successful candidate will be instrumental in empowering students to develop a deep understanding and appreciation for the principles of physics and general science within an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. This role entails fostering a dynamic and inquiry-based learning environment that encourages independent thought, collaboration, and a lifelong love of science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (DP) Physics and General Science curriculum to students in Grades 6 to 12.
- Design and implement engaging and challenging lessons that promote scientific inquiry and critical thinking.
- Prepare and mark a wide range of assessments following MYP and DP protocols.
- Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students.
- Utilize a range of student-centered teaching strategies, resources, and technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Embed IB 'Approaches to Learning' in the curriculum delivery.
- Collaborate with the Chair of Science and other faculty members to establish interdisciplinary links.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and teaching methodologies.
Education and Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Physics or a related field.
- Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
- International Baccalaureate curriculum experience.
- Fluency in both verbal and written English.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Full knowledge of Physics and General Science subject matter and the latest developments in these fields.
- Ability to deliver outstanding lessons using diverse teaching strategies and resources.
- Enthusiasm and passion for teaching Physics and General Science.
- Adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners.
