Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be instrumental in empowering students to develop their English language skills and flourish within an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. This role entails fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that encourages independent thought, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (DP) English Language Acquisition curriculum to students in Grades 6 to 12.
- Design and implement a school-based English Language Development (ELD) program for students in Grades 6 to 8.
- Prepare and mark a wide range of assessments following MYP and DP protocols.
- Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students, including those for whom English may not be their first language.
- Teach and promote English language and culture using a range of student-centered teaching strategies, resources, and technology.
- Embed IB 'Approaches to Learning' in the curriculum delivery.
- Collaborate with the Chair of English and other faculty members to establish interdisciplinary links.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of the latest language teaching advancements.
Education and Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
- International Baccalaureate curriculum experience.
- Fluency in both verbal and written English.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Full knowledge of the subject matter and latest developments in language acquisition.
- Ability to deliver outstanding lessons using diverse teaching strategies and resources.
- Enthusiasm and passion for teaching English as an Additional Language.
- Adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Excellent practitioner of innovative teaching strategies.
