Waylands Volvo, Oxford is looking for an experienced Accountant to join the team at our Volvo dealership in Oxford. You’ll be responsible for both our Volvo Oxford dealership and our Newbury PDI Centre, but you will be based at Volvo Oxford in Cumnor.

What’s the Role?

This is a varied role. Key tasks include:

  • Managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the dealership, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Providing guidance to dealership management at both sites and preparing reports for meetings and updates.
  • Reviewing the workloads of Accounts team members to ensure they are efficiently working towards agreed deadlines and supporting the team to overcome problems and issues.
  • Reconciling and maintaining manufacturer debt accounts for manufacturer bonuses reporting any risks to FC.
  • Reconciling and maintaining finance & insurance debt accounts.
  • Achieving agreed Management Accounts preparation and publication.
  • Composite submission and correction of any warnings/errors.
  • Completion of ad‑hoc projects at the request of Finance Director or Financial Controller.
  • Liaison with other departments to improve systems and communication.
  • Liaison with other departments to reduce cost controls, evidencing cost reduction.
  • Identify areas of profit opportunity or leakage within the department.
  • Ensuring cash opportunities are maximised at all times.

What do you need to have?

  • 2 years of accountancy experience, ideally within the motor trade.
  • Preferably knowledge of Keyloop software (but not essential).
  • A professional accounting qualification is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work to deadlines.
