InsurX are on a mission to build the technology that connects any broker and any insurer so they can exchange risk without friction. After our first partners signed up in late 2022, 27 broking houses and 22 insurers have now traded over $150m in premium using our technology. We’re targeting $1B of premium traded using our technology by the end of 2027. The insurance market is ripe for change and rapidly digitalising – this isn’t just our opinion, it’s the market’s consensus. The insurance industry is like investment banking in the late ‘70s: it’s about to go through its own “Big Bang”. InsurX is leading the charge.

We’re making a success of it by assembling a stellar team of diverse talent, uniting technology expertise with deep knowledge of the insurance business. Our team is united by intellectual curiosity and a determination to change insurance for the better.

About the Role: We’re looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join our Insurance Analytics space. This is an area of focus for InsurX as we look to deepen the level of insights we generate to our customers. You’ll be an integral part of this journey; shaping and producing what our customers consume. As you develop, you’ll begin to take ownership on the technical insights of the insurance portfolios that we support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical evaluation of portfolios, such as Broker Facilities and Smart Consortiums, being placed onto the InsurX exchange, including profitability, indexation and actuarial pricing review.
  • Supporting the structuring of such deals and owning the production of data artifacts within the Broking Submission.
  • Monitoring ongoing deal performance with the view of taking technical ownership on certain deals. This will include reviewing portfolio mix, rating levels, broker usage and loss performance, to drive insights that can be fed back to follow carriers, particularly through structured Quarterly Reviews.
  • Surfacing insights on broker placement and carrier interactions and translating these into tangible actions for both internal and external clients.
  • Developing internal capabilities to support the ongoing monitoring of live deals on the InsurX exchange.
  • Supporting pre and post loss event analysis, and broader claims experience monitoring.
  • Engaging with our third-party providers to actively improve the insights we generate.
  • Be the point of contact for our external queries on Underwriting, Pricing and Exposure Management.

About You:

You’ll have some experience working in the Insurance space, be this at a Carrier, Broker or within the Insurtech space. This could be in an actuarial pricing, portfolio management capacity or otherwise; demonstrable capability in the technical evaluation of (re)insurance portfolios is key. You’ll be an effective communicator; able to work with a range of stakeholders by translating analytical output into clear practical recommendations. You’ll enjoy collaborating across teams and functions and be comfortable taking decisions where there is no established approach. The role is ‘front line’ - working side by side with the Commercial team as the technical counterpart.

Requirements:

  • Technical experience within the (re)insurance market in Reserving, Pricing and/or Portfolio Management, ideally with a good understanding of Property and Casualty (re)insurance contracts.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills and a demonstrated logical, numerical and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Experience in reporting on portfolio exposures to stakeholders as well as some familiarity with Catastrophe Models.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g. Postgres, Snowflake, MS SQL) and visualisation tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Metabase).
  • Familiarity with another programming language such as VBA, .NET, Python is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills - able to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence decision-making.

Our hiring is fair, transparent, inclusive, and accessible. If you have a disability or require adjustments at any stage of the process, just let us know — we’ll make it work. We care about skills, potential, and creativity, not box-ticking.
