Site Location: Rainham

Shift: Lates

Working Hours: 2pm-10pm (Monday-Friday)

Pay Rate: £16.32p/hr (£14.84p/hr + shift premium (10%))

What you will do

  • Driver & Route Management: Manage daily driver attendance, route allocations, and workforce deployment to ensure all routes are adequately resourced and completed safely and efficiently. Liaise closely with carrier partners to address operational challenges, monitor route performance, and ensure crews meet service expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Operational Leadership & KPI Delivery: Oversee & coordinate daily workloads, and provide hands‑on support to consistently meet or exceed production targets and Units Per Hour (UPH) goals.
  • Team Motivation & Engagement: Foster a collaborative "one-team" culture, driving workforce productivity and high‑quality service delivery while keeping frontline associates and agency staff motivated.
  • Daily Shift Operations: Conduct impact‑driven pre‑shift briefings covering daily operational plans, strategic work allocation, and critical health and safety topics.
  • Workflow Optimization & Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve operational inefficiencies, remove bottlenecks on the floor, and autonomously make policy‑driven decisions under pressure.
  • Performance Management & Coaching: Monitor crew, driver, and team performance in real time, conducting observations, providing constructive feedback, and delivering targeted coaching to address performance gaps and improve operational standards.
  • Training & Compliance: Champion health and safety standards by leading departmental training, safety orientations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure strict compliance across all process paths.
  • Independent Operations: Take ownership of daily operations, working autonomously to manage priorities, resolve issues, and ensure service, safety, and productivity targets are achieved.

What you will need

  • Frontline Operational Experience: Proven track record of operating successfully within fast‑paced logistics, transport, or warehouse environments. Large parcel knowledge is advantageous but not essential.
  • People‑First Leadership: A team‑focused supervisory approach with the ability to motivate, support, and develop frontline teams.
  • Route Planning & Operational Coordination: Understanding of delivery scheduling, route planning, resource allocation, and operational readiness.
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver clear instructions, briefings, and operational updates.
  • Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to perform under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and make sound decisions independently.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, drivers, carriers, and operational stakeholders.
  • One‑Team Collaboration: A collaborative mindset focused on achieving shared goals through cross‑functional teamwork.
  • Health & Safety Champion: Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements with a commitment to maintaining compliance and safe working practices.
