Description

The Paralegal will report to the Legal Counsel and provide legal contract administration to support the Legal Counsel, working closely with the Procurement and Contracts team to help ensure supplier contracts are reviewed, progressed, approved, executed and stored in a consistent and well-controlled way.

The role is intended to support the business with high-volume, process-driven work and legal administration.

It is best suited to someone who is organised, detail-focused and commercially aware, but who is still developing their legal judgment and will work under the supervision of the Legal Counsel on legal risk points.

Requirements

  • Contract Review & Management
  • Carry out negotiations and reviews of lower-risk and lower-value supplier contracts, statements of work, order forms, non-disclosure agreements and engagement letters using approved templates, and guidance from the Legal Counsel.
  • Identify areas of legal, commercial or operational risk within the business and advising on positions/obligations.
  • Escalate complex, high-value, non-standard or higher-risk matters to the Legal Counsel promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of ongoing contract reviews and approvals.
  • Arrange execution of documents through Panda Doc and in hard copy.
  • Contract Renewals & Administration
  • Liaise with the Procurement team and business stakeholders on the contract renewal process, ensuring key dates and obligations are monitored.
  • Ensure contracts are correctly executed, filed and maintained on the contract database.
  • Assist with document version control and contract governance processes.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of contract management processes and contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Legal Support
  • Support the Legal Counsel with day-to-day legal matters across the business.
  • Undertake legal and regulatory research as required.
  • Provide practical support on ad hoc legal projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain the legal Way of Life inbox, managing and recording work in and out.
  • Assist with legal record keeping, audit trails and compliance administration, ensuring confidentiality and data protection requirements are observed.
  • Company secretarial support as required.
  • General Responsibilities
  • Act at all times in line with the Company Values, integrating these into all work practices.
  • Build positive working relationships across Legal, Procurement, Operations, Finance, Marketing and other business teams.
  • Maintain a professional, practical and solutions-focused approach when dealing with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • To observe the highest possible standards in relation to customer confidentiality and in compliance with data protection legislation.
  • To act as an ambassador for Way of Life in your conduct during working hours and in all contact with customers and third parties connected with Way of Life’s business.
  • To undertake any other duties reasonably requested that are consistent with the level and purpose of the role.
