WAVY-TV 10/ WVBT FOX43 is searching for a dynamic NEWSROOM INTERN who wants to gain experience in a newsroom. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working the assignment desk
  • Assisting producers with writing and prep for newscasts
  • Working with editors to prep newscasts
  • Working with photographers and reporters both in the newsroom and in the field, including shooting, editing, and preparing final on-air stories

This is an UNPAID / FOR-CREDIT position for the Fall semester 2026 only. We are looking for someone who has completed journalism courses, understands journalistic integrity, and has a passion for the field. Familiarity with news-writing software, shooting video for news, and working knowledge of video editing software is preferred but not required. Please include relevant coursework in your resume/application.

The successful candidate must be willing to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how all departments in a TV station collaborate to support each other. Before beginning, the intern must be enrolled in a college degree-granting program and will be required to show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program. Internship involves 12–15 hours per week on site. Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday is required; days and times will vary and be set in agreement with a supervisor.
