We are seeking a senior project leadership professional to lead our Major Projects Division, overseeing a large portfolio of concurrent live projects typically ranging from £100k to £1.5m in value. This is not a traditional Project Director role focused on running individual projects. Instead, this position sits above day‑to‑day delivery and is responsible for how projects are structured, managed, controlled, and reported across the division. You will lead a team of Project Managers, each responsible for multiple concurrent projects, and oversee the wider project support function including Planning, Document Control, and Surveying.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and performance‑manage the Major Project Management team
- Sit in and contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
- Provide strategic oversight across a large portfolio of live major projects
- Set and maintain project delivery standards, processes, and governance
- Balance PM workloads and resource allocation between the Major project managers
- Act as escalation point for programme risk, delivery issues, and resourcing
- Own project reporting, forecasting, and performance visibility to senior leadership
- Line‑manage and integrate Project Managers, Document Controller, Surveying function
- Drive continuous improvement in project controls, systems, and delivery consistency
- Work closely with commercial, technical, and leadership teams to align delivery with business objectives
Who This Role Suits
A Senior Contracts Manager with portfolio‑level responsibility or a Head of Delivery within a project‑led organisation. You will have experience working for or alongside Tier 1 fit‑out and/or building contractors, and be comfortable leading people, managing complexity, and improving delivery systems — not just delivering individual projects.
