Responsibilities

  • Examine plans, carry out site inspections, maintain accurate records, and ensure full compliance with the Building Regulations.
  • Manage dangerous structures, deal with demolitions, provide clear technical advice, and take enforcement action where required.
  • Work closely with residents, contractors, architects and partner agencies, offering a professional, solution-focused service while upholding the Building Safety Regulator's Operational Standards Rules and Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Committed and professionally competent Registered Building Inspector to join our Building Control team.
  • Help protect the health, safety, sustainability, energy conservation and accessibility of people in and around buildings across the borough.
  • Undertake all aspects of the Building Control function on behalf of the council.
  • Maintained competency through BSCF, CABE or BCCA and hold at least Class 2A BSR registration.
  • Experience in a similar Building Control role.
  • Strong technical knowledge, confident communication skills, and the ability to manage your own workload are essential.
  • Full driving licence, access to a roadworthy vehicle for inspections, and ability to work at height and in confined spaces.

Work Environment

  • Flexible role combining office, home and site-based working within a supportive team that processes around 1,500 applications and 5,500 inspections each year.
  • Contribute to service development, build strong customer relationships and support the continued growth of Waverley's Building Control service.
