About the Role

You will have the opportunity to undertake diverse and interesting work while being actively supported in your career development. You will work within multi-disciplinary Regulatory Services, which includes all Environmental Health disciplines, Licensing, Emergency Planning and Neighbourhood Enforcement.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Inspect Houses in Multiple Occupation and licensed caravan parks, assess risks and secure compliance with the law and licensing conditions.
  • Investigate complaints and enquiries relating to the private‑rented sector, including allegations of illegal eviction.
  • Assess hazards in line with HHRS guidance.
  • Investigate and gather evidence to support civil penalty notices, tribunal hearings and/or legal proceedings.

About You

  • You have a good understanding of the law in relation to the private rented sector.
  • You are self‑motivated and enthusiastic, with strong organisational skills.
  • You have a sound understanding of the use of HHRS to assess hazards and deficiencies in domestic properties.
  • You approach challenges with a problem‑solving mindset and determination to see cases through to a successful conclusion.
  • You, ideally, have experience in the escalation of enforcement action for non‑compliance, including issuing of civil penalty notices and undertaking investigations that may lead to prosecution.
