Would you like to be part of an award-winning multi-disciplinary team managing a wide range of greenspaces across the borough? Do you have skills and experience that you would like to use to maintain and enhance council-owned parks and open spaces? We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our Grounds Maintenance Services team within Environmental Services on a fixed term contract to the end of November 2026. This role plays an important part in helping us maintain high-quality, safe and accessible greenspaces for residents and visitors across the borough.

Working as part of a dedicated operational team, you will carry out a range of programmed grounds maintenance tasks focusing on litter collection, bin emptying, and related tasks. You will also carry out mowing, strimming, hedge and shrub maintenance and general upkeep of council-managed land. You will also support improvement works and ensure that sites are maintained to a consistently high standard.

  • Experience in grounds maintenance or similar outdoor work
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A practical approach with a commitment to maintaining high standards

This is a mobile role and involves working outdoors in all weather conditions as part of a team delivering essential services across the borough. We do not accept CVs without a completed application form. Strictly no agencies please.
