Are you a skilled IT professional with a passion for supporting schools and delivering exceptional technical service? We are looking for a School Technician to join our team and provide on-site and remote IT support, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of school technology systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Support & Satisfaction
- Attend scheduled and unscheduled site visits to provide hands-on IT support.
- Address issues raised by clients and proactively resolve technical challenges.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, keeping them informed of progress and next steps.
- Ensure work completion is documented accurately in managed service tickets.
- Hardware & Software Support
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, AV equipment, and peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and educational software, including productivity suites and specialized applications.
- Deploy and re-image hardware, set up printers, and manage print accounts.
- Network & IT Security
- Maintain network user accounts, permissions, and profiles.
- Configure and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and networking equipment.
- Ensure cybersecurity best practices, antivirus updates, firewall configuration, and web/email filtering are up to date.
- Audio-Visual & Remote Support
- Set up and maintain AV equipment, including projectors, smart boards, and video conferencing tools.
- Provide remote support using tools like Remote Desktop or TeamViewer, coordinating with 2nd and 3rd line support teams.
- Documentation & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, and user guides.
- Support schools in managing IT inventory, recommending purchases when required.
- Ensure adherence to company and client processes to deliver a consistently high-quality experience.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Provide 1st line support across all school IT systems.
- Assist with IT projects when school support work is not scheduled.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills
- Strong IT support background; experience in schools desirable.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Azure, Gmail / G-Suite, and Google Classroom.
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper-V / VMware, Veeam, and Intune.
- Networking fundamentals: LAN, WAN, switches, DHCP, DNS.
- Mobile device management for Android and iOS devices.
- Familiarity with filtering and safeguarding software in an educational environment.
- Interpersonal & Professional Skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks.
