You will help modernise legacy services, deliver resilient cloud solutions, and work closely with technical and non‑technical teams to support business change.
What you will be doing:
- Design, build, and support cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments.
- Deliver secure, scalable, and resilient platform solutions aligned to business and technical needs.
- Improve and automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, scripting, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Support cloud migrations, platform upgrades, and the transition away from legacy infrastructure.
- Work closely with security, networking, and delivery teams to maintain reliable and compliant services.
- Provide technical guidance and act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
- Identify opportunities to use AI tools and automation to improve operational efficiency, monitoring, and service delivery across the cloud estate.
What success looks like in this role:
- Cloud platforms are secure, stable, and fit for growth.
- Infrastructure is increasingly automated, standardised, and easier to support.
- Migrations and platform changes are delivered smoothly and with minimal disruption.
- Technical issues are resolved efficiently, with clear ownership and communication.
- Teams have reliable infrastructure and clear technical standards to work from.
Qualifications Skills and experience:
- Strong hands‑on experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems engineering.
- Good working knowledge of Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation tooling, scripting, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of identity, security, governance, and operational best practice in cloud environments.
- Experience supporting migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure change in complex environments.
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders and communicate technical issues clearly.
- Aware of emerging AI and LLM technologies, with the ability to assess where they can add value in infrastructure operations and engineering workflows.
Skills you will need to excel:
- A practical, problem‑solving approach to infrastructure engineering.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- The confidence to take ownership of technical delivery and improvement.
- Clear communication and the ability to work well across teams.
- Curiosity about AI‑enabled ways of working and the judgment to apply them appropriately, securely, and pragmatically.
Other qualifications:
- A degree in IT, computer science, infrastructure engineering, or a related field would be useful, but is not essential.
- Relevant certifications in Azure, AWS, Microsoft, Terraform, or security would be an advantage.
- Experience working in complex, changing environments with a strong focus on delivery and continuous improvement is desirable.
