An established independent accountancy practice in Northampton is recruiting a Manager as part of its long-term succession planning. This is not a replacement hire. It is a planned hire as part of the firm's long-term succession strategy.

The Opportunity

The firm has a clear succession plan in place, with the current Audit RI moving towards Director level over the next 3-4 years. They are now looking for someone who can:

  • Step into a Manager role with real responsibility.
  • Progress into an Audit RI position.
  • Build and lead their own audit and accounts portfolio.
  • Become part of the firm's future leadership team.

This is a genuine opportunity to progress quickly into a key position.

The Role

  • Manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients.
  • Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion.
  • Oversee both audit assignments and the preparation/review of statutory accounts, ensuring strong technical accuracy across both areas.
  • Review statutory accounts and provide client advice.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients.
  • Support and develop junior staff.
  • Contribute to business development and client retention.

About You

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Strong experience within UK accountancy practice.

  • Comfortable building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Ambitious and motivated to progress into leadership.

Why This Role?

Opportunities offering a clear route to RI and senior leadership within an independent firm are rare. This role is suited to someone who wants:

  • More visibility and influence.
  • A defined progression plan.
  • The chance to step into a leadership position within a realistic timeframe.
