Location: Contractual base in Salvus House, Durham with hybrid working opportunities

Salary: Starting from £43,000 plus a discretionary bonus potential of up to 8% of annual salary

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

The role is an integral part of the wider Finance team and is responsible for assisting with the management of Wave’s Pricing function. This new role has been designed to make capacity within the Pricing team to pursue efficiency and development projects.

The role requires development of an in-depth understanding of charging schemes within the water retail industry, with the role providing subject matter expertise across Wave, delivering pricing for tender requests, balancing competitive pricing needs with company profitability requirements. On an annual basis you will assist with the delivery of regulatory tariffs and associated financial modelling to support Wave’s strategic planning.

The role will suit you if you have a very keen eye for detail and a high level of commerciality. You’ll be someone who can interpret data and bring some meaningful analysis to a proposal. You’ll be a quick learner with a desire to improve processes and influence key pricing decisions.

WHAT WILL YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?

  • You will lead on the management of daily “business as usual” pricing requests, managing stakeholder expectations, and prioritising tasks to ensure delivery within SLA
  • You will identify and develop improvements to pricing tools and procedures to ensure right first-time delivery and efficiency
  • You will deliver strategic pricing strategy reviews, working with commercial teams to balance competitive pricing needs with company profitability requirements.
  • On an annual basis you will lead on the regulatory tariff setting process for Wave’s compliance with the regulator’s Retail Exit Code
  • You will lead on the upload of all tariffs into Wave’s billing system and pricing portal accurately and in a timely manner
  • You will develop internal communications about annual tariff changes, and external communications to Customers about the bill impacts of price changes
  • You will deliver the annual modelling of consumption, revenues and gross margins for relevant wholesale areas for strategic planning purposes

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience of managing a small team and demonstrable success in a technical finance role
  • Experience of successful risk-based pricing in a growth environment is desirable
  • A quick learner with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn more and drive continuous improvement
  • Confident and effective communicator with the ability to build relationships and communicate / present complex messages to internal and external customers
  • Highly numerate with analytical and problem-solving abilities
