About my client:
My client is a leading premium convenience retail platform on a mission to revolutionise how customers shop with ultra-fast, tech-driven delivery solutions. Founded in 2020, they’ve recently given their mobile footprint a full refresh—rebuilding their app using cutting-edge React Native tools like Tamagui, Expo Router, and Maestro. The all-new iOS app launched in April, with Android coming very soon.
The Opportunity
They’re looking for an Engineering Manager who will drive the evolution of their best-in-class mobile app. You’ll manage and expand a team of talented engineers, ensure top-tier quality across features, and serve as the voice of the app in strategic business discussions.
What you’ll do
- Transition from contractors to an in-house model, while recruiting and onboarding 3 full-time React Native engineers
- Lead team members through mentorship, performance reviews, and career development
- Shape the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for the app
- Set and uphold standards for code quality, testing, performance, and app reliability
- Introduce effective monitoring and alerting to catch issues early
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to drive feature delivery
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years in a leadership role (e.g. Engineering Manager, Tech Lead) in mobile app development
- Deep hands-on experience with React Native, Expo, Zustand, React Query, and monitoring tools like Sentry
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong grasp of mobile app architecture and testing best practices
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
