We are partnering with a leading global technology, consulting and engineering services organisation seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across the UK energy and utilities market. This is a senior, individual-contributor sales role focused on developing new client relationships, securing major strategic opportunities and winning new logos across areas including:

  • Electricity and gas
  • Energy generation
  • Power distribution and transmission
  • Water and wastewater
  • Wider energy transition and utility transformation

The successful candidate will sell a broad portfolio of IT services, business process solutions, consulting and engineering capabilities into senior stakeholders across the sector.

The role: Reporting to the UK Utilities Sector Lead, you will take ownership of identifying, shaping and converting significant new business opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing relationships with C-suite and senior decision-makers across target organisations
  • Identifying and pursuing major new-logo opportunities within the UK energy and utilities market
  • Creating and implementing sector-specific sales and account development strategies
  • Building compelling propositions, commercial models and business cases
  • Leading complex sales cycles from initial engagement through to contract award
  • Working with consulting, technology, engineering and delivery teams to develop tailored client solutions
  • Managing bids, proposals, approvals, sales reporting and pipeline governance
  • Developing innovative deal structures that deliver measurable value for clients
  • Building a strong and sustainable pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Representing the organisation as a credible industry voice within the energy and utilities market

About you: You will be an established senior sales professional with a demonstrable track record of winning complex, high-value services engagements within the UK energy and utilities sector. You should bring:

  • Extensive business development experience across energy, utilities, power or transmission
  • A strong record of winning new logos and generating significant sales revenue
  • Experience selling large-scale IT services, outsourcing, consulting, business process or engineering solutions
  • Established relationships with senior stakeholders across the UK utilities market
  • Strong knowledge of the electricity, gas, generation, distribution or transmission landscape
  • Experience managing complex and lengthy enterprise sales cycles
  • A consultative, solution-led approach to business development
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to create innovative propositions and deal structures
  • Confidence engaging, influencing and negotiating at C-suite level
  • Knowledge of technology trends and their impact on the energy and utilities sector
  • Experience working with international and geographically dispersed teams
  • The ambition, resilience and tenacity required to succeed in a highly competitive market

An established network across energy companies, network operators, transmission organisations, utilities or infrastructure providers would be highly advantageous.
